WAKAN TANKA

Wooden Blanket

39h x 30w x 3.5d inches

Mixed media

Iā€™m absolutely crazy about Navajo blankets. The pure geometry resonates for me. But this is my personal interpretation. Therefore, It has to have some humor and absurdity. This is assembled on a wooden armature found in a clearance aisle in a discount store. The construction is quite shoddy so there were many challenges in terms of assemblage.

My focus was on the harmony and the communication between the rectangles: like a dialogue among family members. A unity and disunity coexists. I always aim to juxtapose disparate elements into a cohesive whole.

This is an attempt to juggle oranges while jumping through multiple hoops.
